Notes

The exact dates of birth and death of John P. Lincoln and his wife and children are provided by documents from Blaine John Lincoln, a direct descendant of John P. Lincoln.  The place of birth of John P. Lincoln (Bath, Maine which is a small town east of Durham) is provided by Larry Combs, a descendant of John P. Lincoln's father.  From "History of Aroostook", John was a ship carpenter and a farmer.  He apparently lived his entire life in Maine.  He married Sarah Kimball Stephenson when he was 25 (she was one week shy of 20).  John lived to age 70, and was buried along with his wife in the East Hodgdon Cemetery in Hodgdon, Maine.  A picture of the headstone is shown on the right.

Sarah Kimball Stephenson was born 12-Jan-1817 in New Brunswick, Canada.  Her birth date is shown on her headstone, and is also from family notes of George Lincoln, a son of Warren Lincoln, brother to John P. Lincoln.  The family notes also give some information on Sarah's family.  Sarah died on 14-Aug-1899 in Hodgdon, Maine at the age of 82, surviving her husband by 17 years.  Names and dates of her children are from the family notes of Blaine John Lincoln.  Additional information of the Stephenson family is provided by the Portage County Historical Society of Wisconsin Online Archives at:  http://www.pchswi.org/archives/bios/sutherland/sutherland_6.html.
