There is some uncertainty regarding the exact birth year of Justin Lincoln. Family records from George Lincoln (his brother) indicate a birth year of 1868. The 1870 US Census (recorded on 30-Jul-1870)is constent with that, showing his age as 2. However the 1880 US Census implies his birth year is 1867 (showing his age as 13), and the 1900 US Census also suggests the birth year is 1867. Later Census records suggest the birth year as 1870. The California Death Index states his birth year as 1866. The family records from George Lincoln are taken to be the correct year - 1868.

Justin was a printer in Chicago, Illinois. He married Hattie Peterson around 1915 based upon ages of marriage quoted in the 1930 US Census. At that time, Justin would have been around 47 and Hattie around age 42. Hattie died 20-Feb-1941 (from a Cook County, Illinois Death Index) at the age of 67. She is buried in the Montrose Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois, next to her sister, Jennie. Justin died at the age of 82 in San Diego, California. Presumably he retired there.
